“Debt I Owe”

Dir. Zane Riemer

Prod. Yara Melki

  • An NYU Tisch thesis film directed by Zane Riemer, Debt I Owe is a naturalistic, humanistic portrait of sacrifice and survival. Amir, a Pakistani immigrant and single father, is doing everything he can to provide for his two daughters while keeping his struggling restaurant afloat. But his gambling debts are closing in, forcing him to balance ambition with responsibility. As he hustles to make ends meet, Amir fights to set a good example for his daughters—despite the vices that threaten to pull him under. It is a story about family, resilience, and the cost of chasing the American dream.
